So its been awhile since I have posted anything! I guess during summer I tend to loose track of time and become a bigger procrastinator than I already am. I am somewhat wishing it was fall so I could pull out my scarfs and sweaters, get back to the gym and doing more art projects to keep me busy. I recently have done a few small projects but nothing big. Just me, some good old spray paint and a really tacky lamp base.
Lately I have really been into vintage furniture recalimed treasures, even more so then before. I purchased a new desk from Lois Lane, which is an antique store here in kelowna. It was over priced for only being 40 years old, and for the condition it was in - but I fell in love. The paint was all cracked and chipping away and it looked like, and probably was, in someones shed or garden for many years. I thought about re-doing it but decided I liked all its flaws. So I am leaving it.
Now to the art project, so after I purchased my new favourite piece of furniture I decided my livingroom needed an overhaul. Right now its kinda a mish-mosh of random peoples things. Nothing matches so I decided to start small...A really ugly lamp. I dis-like very much metal. Metal lamps, glass tables etc. So in my obsessiveness I had to do something. I took a can of white matte spray paint for metal and sprayed the crap out of this thing. I didnt buy the lamp so it was free, if I messed up or it looked bad it was no expense out of my pocket.
Ugly lamp - Ok not so ugly but not my style
I dont tape anything off, I like to wing it lol
Voila! The end product
I went to homesense, bought a new Lamp Shade fo $16.00 - yes cheap I know! And Changed out the shade. Forest green is not my color. In total the lamp cost me a whole 20 bucks! It didnt turn out to shabby either. You can do alot with a can of spray paint and and some elbow grease.
I am a strong believer in imperfection, its all imperfectly perfect :)
